He is best known as the lead singer of the rock band Journey during their most commercially successful periods from 1977 to 1987, and again from 1995 to 1998. Perry also had a successful solo career between the mid-1980s and mid-1990s, made sporadic appearances in the 2000s, and returned to music full-time in 2018.

“Things took a turn, businesswise, that I didn’t like, and that Jonathan didn’t like and we decided not to go along with it. There were a lot of unrealistic statements that were being made by different people and us not really talking and just believing what others were saying.
Gregg is a founding member of the bands Santana, The Storm, Abraxas Pool, and Journey, for whom he was the original lead singer. He currently performs with his Gregg Rolie Band. Rolie is a two time inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Santana and Journey.
