What is OTP code used for?

A one-time PIN code is a code that is valid for only one login session or transaction using a mobile phone. It is often used in two factor authentication or 2FA to provide an extra layer of security for the user when he uses an ATM machine or tries to login to a service from a different computer.

Why did Sassa send me an OTP code?

It means that you need to be able to access either the e-mail address or the phone number you used when you created your previous active account. The Smart-ID app will let you know when we’ll send out the OTP and you’ll also see a list of contact options that you can choose from.
