Kratos loses his OLYMPIAN powers when he puts them into the sword of olympus, but does not lose the power of hope, it just stays dormant behind his guilt and rage. To keep it simple, kratos absorbs Hades’ soul, which gives him the power of souls in the underworld, especially combined with the claws.
Is God of War 4 Kratos the same?
Both are the same character. The world is intact because Kratos traveled to the the Norse Pantheon which is not explained how. Even so, the Greek Pantheon still exists because Kratos gave mankind the power called “Hope” after stabbing himself with the Blade of Olympus.
