What is a Costco household card?
In addition to their own membership card, Primary members (and Affiliate members on Business memberships) receive one free Household Card they can assign to someone over the age of 18 who lives at the same address.
Can anyone in a household use a Costco card?
The Costco membership card is non-transferable, but there are several ways to share the experience with family and friends. Anyone with a card can bring up to two guests to the Warehouse during each visit. Keep in mind that purchasing items is exclusive to Costco members.

Yes they check at the checkout. They’ve also caught two different overcharges on two different occasions checking my receipt at the door. They do a good job. Everytime I’ve checked out at Costco, the cashier has ALWAYS looked at the photo on the card, then looked at me.

They may also look at the card itself. it’s a membership club so they are expected to check IDs. You don’t have to use the card now, there’s a phone app that shows your face and membership details.
