2. M&Ms used to be made with Hershey’s chocolate, now one of Mars’ biggest competitors. In return, Murrie received a 20 percent stake in the M&M product, which was named to represent ‘Mars’ and ‘Murrie.

Mars & MurrieThey named the candy M&M, which stood for “Mars & Murrie.” The deal gave Murrie a 20% stake in the candy, but this stake was later bought out by Mars when chocolate rationing ended at the end of the war in 1948.
Mars Wrigley is recalling a batch of its M&M’s Crispy products due to the presence of a genetically modified organism (GMO). “Further, there is no GMO authorised for this ingredient under UK law and so the products must be recalled,” it added.
