Is equipment a permanent MTG?
An Equipment doesn’t come into play attached to a creature. The equip keyword ability moves the Equipment onto a creature you control (see rule 502.33, “Equip”). An Equipment that equips an illegal or nonexistent permanent stops equipping that permanent, but remains in play. (This is a state-based effect.

A: Tokens go to the graveyard as regular creatures, and are removed as a “state-based effect” when a player gets priority again. They stay in the graveyard long enough to trigger abilities, like the one of Soulcatchers’ Aerie, before they are removed.

A token is a marker used to represent any permanent that isn’t represented by a card. So tokens on the battlefield are permanents, and if they are not lands Devastation Tide will return them to their owner’s hand (and since they’re tokens, they will immediately cease to exist after leaving the battlefield).

The Equip ability is done at sorcery speed. If an equipment has anither ability that lets it be attached at instant speed then yes. Equip [cost] ([Cost]: Attach this permanent to target creature you control. Activate this ability only any time you could cast a sorcery.)
Can you equip a shroud creature?
You can’t play the Equip ability targeting a creature with Shroud. It’s possible for the Equipment to become attached to such a creature, and if that happens it will stay attached. But in general, no, you can’t equip it.
