Although Appa’s fate is not explained in Avatar: The Legend of Korra, it’s likely that he died at the same time as Aang. Although it is sad to think they are both dead in The Legend of Korra, it’s comforting to know they are together in the Spirit World, much like Fang and Roku remain united.
Appa was kept in a secret location at Lake Laogai until his rescue by Zuko, who was initially planning on utilizing him to capture the Avatar. Appa eventually returns to the main group in the last scenes of Lake Laogai.
In the second season, Aang and his friends Katara and Sokka are on a quest to find an Earthbending teacher which finishes when they recruit Toph Beifong. After finding important information concerning the war with the Fire Nation, Appa ends up kidnapped.
Because Toph relies on sensation in her feet to perform earthbending, she becomes truly “blind” if the soles of her feet are damaged, as shown when Zuko accidentally burns her feet. Although, she can feel the vibrations of the earth with her hands to some degree, they are not nearly as sensitive as her feet.
16 Although Toph’s Hair Seems Short, It’s Actually Quite Long And Bushy When She Let It Down. Even though Toph’s hair might seem pretty short, if she lets it down then it’s actually deceptively long. In a way, this can be seen as an allegory of her entire personality.
By 141 AG, Toph had fully reconciled with her parents, so much so that they were willing to let Suyin stay with them to avoid their granddaughter going to jail.
Toph has been blind since birth, but due to her extensive earthbending skills, she can locate objects and their movements by sensing their vibrations in the earth around her.
One of the more interesting details of Toph’s design is her unique bouffant hairstyle. It’s inspired by the one of the most fashionable looks of the Tang Dynasty (618-907): The Gao Ji (高髻), meaning “High Hairstyle”, which refers to any hairstyle that emphasizes piling your hair into a full and tall arrangement.
Netflix weighs in on Suyin’s parentage In Avatar: The Legend of Korra, Toph has a daughter named Suyin. Suyin’s father is never revealed, but Netflix suggests that it’s actually Sokka who paired up with Toph.
